Monthly Recap: In April, Josh Shapiro Crisscrossed the Commonwealth, Talking About Cutting Costs and Investing in Pennsylvania Workers

Press Release

Date: May 2, 2022
Issues: Elections

April was a busy month on the campaign trail for Attorney General Josh Shapiro, as he continued to build momentum behind his campaign, traveling to 13 different counties, meeting with thousands of Pennsylvanians, and discussing his plans to cut costs, improve schools, expand the workforce, and invest in Pennsylvania workers.

In April, Josh Shapiro:

Visited 13 different counties and met with thousands of Pennsylvanians.
Took hundreds of pictures with supporters -- including many selfies.
Spoke with and answered questions from 30 different reporters and radio hosts.
Rolled his plan to eliminate four-year degree requirements for thousands of state government jobs and triple the funding available for apprenticeship programs.
Throughout the past month, Josh visited communities in every corner of the Commonwealth. He rallied supporters in Butler, Beaver, Washington, Warren, Potter, McKean, Montgomery, Dauphin, and Lancaster counties at meet and greet events -- proving that he will show up in rural, suburban, and urban communities alike.

Josh also rolled out his plan to expand the workforce, create better-paying jobs, and invest in Pennsylvania workers. Josh knows that in order to move our economy forward, we must address labor shortages and expand opportunities for our workers, which is why his plan includes significant investments in job and skills training programs and cuts unnecessary bureaucratic red tape holding too many Pennsylvanians back.

This month, Josh also received endorsements from the Commonwealth's leading environmental advocacy organizations and spoke with workers from the Eastern Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters, PASNAP, and APSCUF. All of these organizations, that collectively represent hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians, are supporting Josh this year, because they believe in his vision of Pennsylvania and know that he will protect all Pennsylvanians' rights.

Finally, Josh released his campaign's first two television ads this month. In "Banana Split", Josh talks about his family, his faith, and approach to public service, and in "Alexis," a registered nurse shares how Josh took on predatory lenders and helped wipe out her debt.

From campaigning in the Northern Tier to going up on television more than six months before Election Day, Josh spent the month of April meeting Pennsylvanians where they are and sharing his plans to tackle the challenges they're facing. Two weeks before the general election officially kicks off, Josh is working hard every single day to earn the support of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike and will continue campaigning all across the Commonwealth.
